What is POSSAT?

POSSAT is a Bitcoin point-of-sale (POS) terminal. It allows businesses like restaurants, bars and nightclubs to accept Bitcoin payments quickly and easily. The system monitors the blockchain in real time to verify payments in seconds.

1

Go to the "Payments" section from the navigation menu.

2

Select the business and enter the EUR amount you want to charge.

3

The system will automatically calculate the BTC equivalent at the current price and generate a QR code with the payment address.

4

The customer scans the QR with their Bitcoin wallet and sends the payment.

5

In a few seconds, the system will detect the transaction and show "Payment detected!" with a visual and sound alert.

6

Once the payment is detected, you can serve the customer. The system will continue tracking confirmations automatically.

Waiting

The payment has been created and is waiting for the customer to send the payment.

Detected

The transaction has been detected in the mempool (not yet confirmed). You can serve the customer.

Confirmed

The payment has at least one confirmation on the blockchain. It is final and irreversible.

Expired

The waiting time (15 min) has expired without receiving payment. The BTC price may have changed, create a new payment.

Cancelled

The payment was manually cancelled before receiving the payment.

The Dashboard shows an overview of your business activity:

  • Total balance received in BTC and its EUR/USD equivalent.
  • Latest transactions with their confirmation status.
  • Current Bitcoin price updated in real time.
  • Summary by business with each one's balance.

Data is automatically updated every 5 seconds without needing to reload the page.

  • The system only uses extended public keys (xpub). Private keys are never stored, so no one can spend funds from this platform.
  • You can enable two-factor authentication (2FA) from your Profile for added security.
  • All sensitive actions are recorded in the audit log.
  • Each Bitcoin address is used only once per payment, improving privacy.

An xpub (extended public key) is a key derived from your Bitcoin wallet that allows generating receiving addresses without having access to the funds.

There are different formats depending on the address type:

  • zpub — Native SegWit / Bech32 addresses (start with bc1) — recommended, lower fees
  • ypub — Compatible SegWit addresses (start with 3)
  • xpub — Legacy addresses (start with 1)

The system automatically detects the type based on the key prefix. zpub and ypub are always detected correctly. xpub keys default to BIP84 (Native SegWit), the most commonly used format today. If your wallet uses a different format, you can change it manually in the selector.

For testnet, the equivalents are used: tpub, upub and vpub.

You can get your xpub from wallets like Electrum, BlueWallet, Sparrow, Trezor or Ledger.

In the transaction history and payment screen, you'll find a "View TX" link next to each confirmed or detected transaction.

Clicking it will open mempool.space in a new tab where you can see all the transaction details: amount, fees, confirmations and more.
